System: How to boot an old kernel

(last edit: 2000-11-22) If you want to boot with an old kernel, because the current one is not working properly or not working at all, this is how to: During boot you get an message like: "Booting kernel in x seconds or perss enter..." Just hit any key except the ENTER key. You will get a kind of a prompt. Type help to find out what commands there are. Type 'unload all' and then 'boot [kernel file]' where [kernel file] is the kernel you want to boot e.g. 'kernel.old' . Your freeBSD machine will be booted with the kernel you specified.
