Network: Qpopper: popping your mail

(last edit: 2001-06-01)

Introduction

I'll keep this article short because there isn't much to say.....
  • Install qpopper via '/usr/ports/mail/qpopper'
  • Add the following line to '/etc/inetd.conf' pop3 stream tcp nowait root /usr/local/libexec/qpopper qopper -t /var/log/qpopper.log
  • Killall -HUP inetd and your ready to go!
The '-t' option means that the loggin is written to the specified file instead of syslog, the '-s' option turns on statistics logging. Your '/var/log/messages' file will be flooded with qpopper logs (and you are thus more likely to miss the important stuff) if you don't redirect the logging to an other file!!!
